Independent Authorized Instructors

These are the Approved Flight Instructors.
You can receive instruction from any one of these Independent Contractors in our aircraft.
If you have your own instructor, we may be able to accomodate them.
These are experienced, real world pilots, with many years of flight instruction.

Andrew Lechtenberg -Independent CFII
Cell 435-229-1824

Andrew is a flight instructor and the Director of Flights Operations for utahpilots.com. Originally from sunny St. George, Utah, he also spent time growing up in San Francisco and Atlanta. He now lives in Salt Lake City, with his wife.

Andrew grew up wanting to pursue a career in business, like his dad. Upon completing his bachelor's degree in finance, he moved to Dallas, TX to work for American Airlines. It was there that his passion for aviation was born. Soon after, he left his job and completed his flight training, flying Piper Archer's and Cessna 172's.

While having a very laid back personality, Andrew is passionate about helping his students and watching them achieve their goals. He loves spending any time he has teaching his students and flying. He is an avid traveler and loves to be in the sky.

Zach Powell -Independent CFII

Zach is one of the most passionate full time instructors in Utah. He is available to fly almost anytime you are. He likes to see his students achieve their goals and prides himself on keeping his rates affordable.

On his 5th birthday, Zach received his first flight simulator program. He quickly became fascinated with the idea of flight and the ability to fly. He completed his first flight lesson at age 13, had the opportunity to solo at age 16, and received his Private Pilot license at 17.

Through the years of his training and recreational flying, he has been able to fly the C152, C172, C182, Sport cruiser, Piper Arrow/Warrior/Archer/Seminole, SR20, SR22T.
In part of the after takeoff checklist, we'll say, "Welcome to the Sky."

Zach loves flying his family's Cirrus, with his Dad.

Zach Davis -Independent CFII
Cell 801-634-2619

Zach has always wanted to fly, he could never imagine himself doing anything else. His uncle, a pilot for the Air National Guard, took him flying a couple of times growing up which helped create his passion for flying. Since earning his pilot certificates he has enjoyed sharing his passion with friends and family, he loves taking people up in the air!

Zach's been able to fly over different parts of the country, including Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. He loves seeing the world from the air.

Let's go fly!

John MacDonald CFII
Cell 801-556-3314

It is important to understand what makes an airplane fly and how to precisely control an aircraft. Some of these concepts are counter-intuitive, but understanding aerodynamics, really allows you to master flying.

John's experience and pass rate qualifies him to instruct first time or initial CFI applicants. In addition to training CFIs he also enjoys teaching Instrument and Commercial applicants, as well as his Practical Test Prep classes, which are the foundation of his high student pass rate. John lives in Herriman Utah with his family.

Please text. It's the fastest way to get back to you once I am on the ground.
